5 Simple Summertime Sauces and Dressings

Come summer, salads, our organic frozen entreés and “no-cook” meals are a huge staple in our kitchen. Once we’ve heated up our meals and assembled our salads, we only need our favorite sauce or dressing to complete the meal! Here’s a number of 2-3 ingredient quick sauces and dressings. They can be thrown together at a moments notice and don’t need much in terms of a recipe. Simply use your best judgment and tweak to your desired flavor. We obviously aren’t including salt, pepper or water, so make sure to season generously!

Tahini + Lemon + Garlic 

Simply one of favorite stand alone sauces, tahini has a thick, nutty consistency. It’s an excellent base for salad dressings and pairs perfectly with lemon and garlic. Simply add a couple tablespoons of tahini to a bowl, add a bit of minced garlic, and squeeze a lemon so that the juice hits the tahini directly. Add about a cup of water, or as much as you need to create the consistency you need. Whisk away! We like to do this in a jar, so that we can save some for the next day!

Brown Butter + Sage

An absolute game changer, this sauce can be drizzled on everything – seriously, crusts of bread, chicken breast, grass fed tenderloin – it’s amazing. Use a tablespoon of butter per person (or more! #yolo!) and heat it on a skillet. Set the flame to med-high until it begins to brown. DO NOT walk away from this skillet! Butter burns quickly and nobody likes burned butter! Once it browns, stir in fresh, thinly sliced sage and enjoy!

Sriracha + Tamari Sauce

If you need something spicy to complement your meal, may we suggest this wild sauce? Sriracha is America’s favorite hot condiment for a reason! It’s slightly sweet and spicy and blends together superbly. The thickness of your sauce is determined by how heavy your Sriracha hand weighs! Simply add more for a thicker sauce .

Orange + Olive Oil

We can’t stress the importance of using good quality olive oil for these sauces and dressings. We happened to have a spare orange loitering in our test kitchen, so off it went to the cutting board! We mixed it with high quality olive and a touch of apple cider vinegar and garlic. It was delicious!

Avocado + Lime + Garlic

Do you have a ready to eat avocado nearby? Perfect! We used a mini food processor for this one, it made the process super quick! Combine minced garlic with the avocado, lime and salt and pepper. Pulse the processor until it’s all mildly mushed. Add oil. It’ll take on a creamy consistency, but if you require something creamier simply add water and mix well.
