Happy National Seafood Month!

How wonderful! An entire month dedicated to one of the leanest and healthiest proteins out there: seafood! Beetnik is dedicated to providing our community with wholesome, nutrient dense and ethically sourced seafood. All of our seafood is wild caught and sustainable, so you can rest easy knowing that we firmly believe in responsibly harvested fish.

As you might have noticed, we offer a number of seafood varieties on our website – from halibut to salmon to cod, there’s something for everyone. We even have a variety of pre-seasoned seafood products. For those new to healthy living, fish can be a rocky territory. A million questions can run through your head before you even take it out of the Beetnik box: How do you know if it’s cooked thoroughly? How long do I need to thaw it? How often should I flip the fillet? Don’t worry – Beetnik has your back. We’re going to go over some foolproof ways to ensure that your seafood is cooked to perfection!

Oven

Remove fish from bag and lay flat in a glass bowl or foil lined baking dish. Dress with olive oil and season to taste

  • From thawed: bake at 400F for 20-22 minutes
  • From frozen: bake at 425F for 20-22 minites

Microwave

From thawed or frozen: cook product in the bag. Puncture food bag 2-3 times with fork for ventilation. Cook each individual fillet 3-4 minutes (microwaves vary in power so find the optimum cooking time that is right for your specific microwave) and let rest for 2 minutes before serving. caution: the bag will be got after cooking so please take care and make sure to use oven mitts or potholders.

Grill 

Remove fish from bag. Dress with olive oil and season to taste.

  • From thawed: cook at 325 F for a total of 6-8 minutes, flipping half way through cooking
  • From frozen: cook at 325 F for a total of 10-11 minutes

Fryer

Remove fish from bag.

  • From thawed: fry at 360 F for 2-3 minutes
  • From frozen: fry at 360 F for 3 3/4

Poached 

Remove fish from bag. Place in pan big enough to lay the fish down flat and pour in enough water to barely cover the fish. Bring liquid to a simmer and keep it there for ten minutes. Remove fish and pat it dry. Season to taste.
