Smoothies for Busy Beetniks

For those of us that exhibit zombie like tendencies in the morning, breakfast can be a hard sell. It’s not easy to wake up and create a culinary masterpiece before coffee, so here are some easy and accessible smoothies that you can whip up quickly in order to get much needed nutrients into your system early in the morning. Warning: Must be awake while operating the blender.


If Popeye were around, this would be his go-to morning or post-workout drink. Blending spinach into your smoothie may seem strange, but the nutritional benefits cannot be ignored. Spinach provides us with high levels of vitamin A, K and C, and magnesium, all of which decrease your risk for high blood pressure and heart disease. Don’t worry about the taste, frozen spinach blends with fruit remarkably well and can replenish energy and nutrient stores after a good night’s rest or workout.


Rich in fiber, strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C – they boast even more vitamin C than citrus fruits! More vitamin C means more immunity boosting properties. Feeling a little under the weather? Throw some strawberries into your morning smoothie and enjoy this fast-working antioxidant.


Again with the antioxidants! These mangoes do not mess around. Packed with fiber, pectin and vitamin C, mango helps lower serum cholesterol levels and can alkalize the body. The tartanic acid, malic acid and citric acid help maintain the body’s alkali reserve. Benefits of a properly alkalized body include clearer skin, deeper sleep and better digestion. All good things!


Fruity Spinach Smoothie

1 packet of Beetnik Spinach

1 banana (frozen, if possible)

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)

1 cup Beetnik Strawberries

  • Blend spinach and almond milk in blender for smoother consistency.
  • Add frozen banana, strawberries and chia seeds. Blend some more!

Tropical Mango Smoothie

1 packet Beetnik Chopped Mango

1 packet Beetnik Strawberries

1 banana

1 cup orange juice

  • Put all items in blender and blend!


Pro tip:

Take a half an hour of your time before the week starts and prep your smoothies. Place your smoothie ingredients (excluding the liquid) in a plastic baggie or air tight container and freeze, so that you can just reach in and dump the contents in to your blender. Add the liquid and blend! It’ll save you time in the morning, leaving you to catch an extra couple minutes of rest.
